ICor13Project as Pro-Life Agent

We work to:

1. To infiltrate the community with life saving information. Black Birthgivers and babies die at an exponential rate compared to other demographics. We strive to get evidence based information and birthing options into the community people as a matter of life or death. People literally perish for lack of knowledge. Knowledge is life.

2. To introduce birth work as a vocational option. We understand there will always be a need for birth workers, it will never go away as an industry and there is good money to be made in it. Black childbirth educators, lactation consultants, as well as doulas are only a few lucrative vocation options  in the industry. They often require only weeks and sometimes a few days of training and are affordable.  We are elevating birth work for people who for whatever reason might not be ready for college, need a side hustle and/or for those who are considering a second career.

3. And yes of course we would love to launch more Black birth and breastfeeding doulas into our community here in West Michigan to support black birthing people and babies in particular. We believe a simple thing like a birth plan and someone to elevate a voice literally saves lives.

Our Collective Work

1. Community Connections - Collaborating with Public Schools, clubs and churches to identify black teen birth givers [present and/or future] in order to train and mobilize them to act as life saving agents in their neighborhoods, families and for themselves should giving birth become a reality for them.

2. Womb-man Circles- Creating  safe space and resources for the reproductive and mental health of black birthing people.

3. Birth plans: This is our entry into the lives of birthing people who may not know what a Doula is. A birth plan helps birth givers understand they have power over their birth as well as how a doula can help them exercise their power when they are in labor.
